How to use it?

Upon initial access to the Excel sheet, please navigate to the settings page and select the General tab. In this tab, set the starting year (YYYY) only once at the beginning and refrain from making any further changes.

Proceed to the Budget Tracking & Dashboard tab and under the section labeled "Late Month Income," configure the settings for the "Shift Late Income" option. If this option does not apply to your specific situation, deactivate it. However, if it does apply, activate this option to consider income received on or after a designated day of the month as income for the following month. This is particularly recommended for individuals who receive their monthly paycheck towards the end of the month and wish to consider this income for the next month. In addition, set the day of the start of the month.

Under the "KPI Calculation in Dashboard" section, choose the preferred method of calculating the savings rate (SR) in the dashboard KPI tiles. The options available are:

Active Option (% allocated to Savings): SR = Savings / Income

Passive Option (% not allocated to Expenses): SR = (Income - Expenses) / Income

Next, navigate to the Budget Planning page. First, unhide the columns for income, expenses, and savings. Then, enter the appropriate categories and fill out the yearly plan for these categories.

Upon completion of the yearly budget plan, navigate to the Budget Tracking page. Accurately fill in the table by adding the date, type, category, and amount. On the right, you can track the current date, the date of the last record, the number of tracked records, and the total tracking balance. Utilize the filters located on the headers of the table to sort the data. The current balance and effective date can be tracked on the right grey columns.

Finally, navigate to the Budget Dashboard page to review the breakdown and summary of all incomes, expenses, and savings, comparing them between tracked and budgeted data.
